Date of Passing: Mar 09, 2008
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MYRTLE MADDOX (nee BILINSKY) On Sunday, March 9, 2008, Dorothy Maddox passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 86 years. It was a peaceful release from a long struggle with ill health. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her sister Rea Levert; brother-in-law Elmo Levert; nieces, Laurie Lillico and Marilyn Gerace; Laurie's children, Alana Heying, Lea Cauley and their families. She will be much missed by her cousin Barbara Langtry and family who have many fond memories of their times together. Dorothy was predeceased by her much loved husband Joseph Maddox. We are comforted by the knowledge that Dorothy and Joe are now reunited. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Dorothy and Joe were inseparable since they were children. There are many family stories of their escapades together. Their sense of adventure continued and together they explored many parts of the world. Dorothy's special place was the cottage at Lake of the Woods. She loved the outdoors: biking, fishing, boating and entertaining. Dorothy was known for her macramé deck chairs which grace homes and cottages in three provinces. She was blessed with many close, life-long friends and made new ones every day. Dorothy was always strong and courageous. She cherished her independence, but was always there when someone needed her. In compliance with Dorothy's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. In the spring family and friends will gather for a celebration of her life and Dorothy will join Joe in Clearwater Bay where they enjoyed so many happy years. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital. They provided not only compassion and support, but their friendship as well. Also thank you to the caring staff at the Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Dorothy's favourite charities which were: Jocelyn House Inc., 177 Egerton Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2M 2W7 or the Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, 350 St. Mary's Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3Z7.
